SSMVR travel grants

The Swiss Society of Microcirculation and Vascular Research (SSMVR) welcomes applications for travel grants to conferences and official courses from PhD students and young Postdocs (<4 years after PhD).

Deadlines: February 1st, June 1st, October 1st.
Applicants will receive notification via email within 15 days after each deadline.


In general support of CHF 500 for meetings in Europe and of CHF 1000 for meetings oversea can be granted.

 

Applicants must be a member of SSMVR for at least 12 months before applying.

 

Please submit your application as one single pdf to Prof. Brenda R. Kwak (brenda.kwakchanson@unige.ch).

It should contain the following documents in the order indicated below:

  1. Cover letter = Letter of motivation (max 2 pages).
    This letter should contain the following information
    1.1. the importance of the conference or course for your research,
    1.2. your financial situation: Why do you need support from SSMVR? Which amount will be covered by other institutions?
    1.3. the amount applied for in CHF. Please list details of our travel costs and the conference registration fee.
  1. Your CV (max 2 pages)
  2. List of peer reviewed publications (if any).
    All authors should be shown, please underline your name.
  3. Support letter of your supervisor.
    Your supervisor should confirm that no or only limited funding is available and that this meeting is of exceptional importance for your scientific career.
  4. Abstract(s) submitted or planned to submit to the conference.
  5. Conference title, location, and scientific subject (a pdf of the program or the conference flyer would be ok).

 

What can be funded?

  • Attendance at scientific conferences, symposia or meetings
  • Participation in workshops and courses

 

What is covered?

  • Registration fees
  • Travel costs (transportation, accommodation)

 

How are applications evaluated?

  • All applications are evaluated by the members of the SSMVR board
  • Evaluation criteria:
    • consideration of the relevance of the event to the applicant’s career at the specific time (increase of knowledge, skills, professional network)
    • consideration of the specific meeting, event
    • consideration of the financial constraints as outlined in the application

 

How to get reimbursed?

If your application is approved, within 2 weeks after the event, send by email the following to Prof. Cornelia Halin (cornelia.halin@pharma.ethz.ch):

  • Attendance certificate
  • List of expenses
  • All receipts for expenses
  • Statement regarding additional funding received or lack thereof
  • Your bank account details

The granted financial support will be transferred to your bank account upon receipt and verification of these documents.
